Nairi Azezian began her flute studies at the age of six under the direction of Jaana Laasonen. In 2003 she entered the Youth Department of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and studied with Matti Helin, Tommi Koivuniemi and Liisa Ruoho with whom, since the year 2008, she continued to study flute performance at the Sibelius Academy. In 2010 Azezian studied in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Sarah Newbold and Philippa Davies and has also attended flute master classes given by Sarah Newbold, Amy Likar, Louic Schneider, Moshe Epstein and Mardi McSullea. She graduated from Sibelius Academy with the highest remarks in 2014.
Nairi has also studied singing since 2008 with Timo Honkonen, Maria Argento Rancatore, Marjut Hannula, and Mika Kares. She has attended Singing Master Class given by Maria Kowollik (altto, Bremen). Azezian was a member of the Helsinki Chamber Choir in 2008-2015 which is known for performing and commissioning contemporary pieces from composers all over the world.
Nairi is known as an expressive musician and her wide repertoire includes both chamber music and solo pieces. She works together with modern composers and performs regularly contemporary music. Korean composer Sukju Na wrote her a solo piece called The Mermaid's Song for singing female flautist. The piece was premiered on 2nd of May 2014 at the Sibelius Academy Concert Hall in Helsinki. In 2007 Azezian took part in the 9th National Chamber Music Competition Juvenalia and received the first price. Azezian became the Young Artist of the year in 2007 of Vantaa Baroque Festival. In 2009 she was granted a scholarship by Pro Musica Foundation. Azezian was invited to London for the Young Armenian Talents - recital concert together with her sister, pianist Nazig Azezian, with whom she frequently performs. She was also invited to perform as a soloist with the AGBU Chamber Orchestra. Azezian has also worked in orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra (solo piccolo), Pori Sinfonietta (Sub-Principal) and Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra (Co-Principal). Her future plans include many chamber music projects and recordings.
